Student Head of Diversity Mariela Vazquez ’21 recently addressed the Miss Porter’s School community through a letter, in which she explained, “This summer, I ask that all of you consider the ways that you stay silent in the face of intolerance, microaggressions, and injustice. Think about the ways that you can do better for your Black peers and other peers of color, whether this is by protesting, signing petitions, donating, or educating yourselves and others about racial inequality. Most importantly, consider the legacy you will leave in Farmington; will you be complicit in injustice or will you hold yourselves accountable to actively being anti-racist members of society?”
Mariela also shared her thoughts in this video, which we encourage you to watch.
